Hello! I’m Samantha and the main writer for Crazy Chick DIY. Software Engineer by day, home remodeler by night, crazy animal lady in between. My current animal count is 9 chickens, 2 ducks, 2 dogs, and horse. Meet some of the ladies around my house!

I adore chicks when they are this little. This little gal grew up to be my Buff Orpington hen who lays large brown eggs.

Dogs: Gabby and Aerie

Gabby and Aerie are my canine buddies. They are both shelter dogs and are super sweet.

My girls lay a beautiful rainbow of colors. I want to get a Blue Copper Maran this spring to bring darker eggs into the mix.

Ducks: Francis and Gimli

I’ll admit, my ducks hate me. I raised them from ducklings, handled them daily, and those buggers still run away from me. I do, however, LOVE duck eggs so I keep them around. They are fun to watch, even if they have no interest in interacting with me.

duckies

My ducklings when I first got them. I got 8 and rehomed most except the two that moved with me

Horse: Lola

Lola is my rescue filly. I got her from a kill pen 2 years ago as a malnourished 2 year old. She has really flourished, moved states with me, and now is under saddle.
